I am a graduate of the College of St. Rose and Kent State University with a BS and an MA respectively in Art Education.  I chair the art department and teach art full time at Union-Endicott High School in Endicott, NY.  I have found that nothing clarifies one’s understanding of a subject quite like teaching it. As such, teaching art influences my decisions about my own work

Sewing, quilting, and needlework have touched my life since early childhood, as my mother and grandmothers spent many leisure hours with a needle between their fingers. I have always loved working with a needle or sewing machine and seeing the fruits of my own hands.

My own artwork, until recently, has been focused mostly in the areas of drawing and printmaking.  In the past few years I have become excited about combining the traditions and rich surfaces of quilts with innovative techniques of the contemporary fiber artist and have begun to use the quilting process as a form of creative expression.  I love working with color, fabric, texture, and process, and the hours slip easily away from me when I can sneak away from my other commitments for a work date with my sewing machine.
